Frequently Asked Questions.
Have a sleep question? You’re not alone. Here are some of the most common questions parents ask me.
-
The first 12 weeks of your baby’s life are known as the “fourth trimester”. This is a very special and important time for bonding, establishing feeding, and helping your baby adjust to life outside the womb.
During this period, your baby’s main needs are feeds, comfort, closeness, and a sense of safety. Responding to them, holding them, feeding them, and helping them settle is not “creating bad habits”, it’s helping them feel secure in a brand new world. Because of this, I don’t offer sleep plans for babies under 12 weeks. At this age, it’s not about routines, schedules, or changing sleep patterns. It’s about nurturing, responding, and supporting both your baby and you as you find your rhythm together.
From around 12 weeks, most babies become more receptive to gentle sleep cues and simple, predictable routines. Even then, it’s not about strict or rigid schedules.
The focus is on gently guiding your baby with calm, supportive habits that match where they’re at developmentally and emotionally. Over time, this creates a sustainable and reassuring foundation for healthy sleep.
-
No, definitely not. I don’t believe in leaving babies or children to cry alone without comfort or reassurance. That approach only creates unnecessary stress for both you and your child.
My work focuses on understanding what’s driving your child’s sleep difficulties and what obstacles are in their way and then gently reducing sleep associations using a gradual, supportive approach.
Some babies may naturally resist the changes, but you’ll always be close by, offering reassurance and comfort throughout the process.
-
The only preparation you need is to complete the online sleep questionnaire beforehand.
Other than that, please don’t stress or tidy up for me.
It’s actually helpful for me to see a “real” day in your home. If your baby is unsettled or there are interruptions, that’s completely normal and gives me a better understanding of your situation. My aim is to reduce your stress, not add to it.

After commencement of your new sleep plan, follow-up calls (around 20 minutes each) are usually scheduled on:
*Day 2 or 3
*Day 6
*Day 10
*Day 15
*Day 21 (discharge day)
What if I miss a call?
Your follow-up calls are a really important part of your sleep journey, as they help keep you on track and allow us to address any issues early.
I’ll let you know your next call date in advance. If you’re unable to answer at the scheduled time without prior notice, and I’m unable to reach you after two attempts, that call may be forfeited.
-
With over 20 years’ experience, I’ve learned that the first three weeks are when parents need the most guidance and reassurance. This is also the timeframe where the biggest and most lasting changes happen.
*Days 1 to 3: Subtle changes begin.
*Days 4 to 7: Clear improvements appear.
*Days 8 to 12: Your confidence grows and things start to click.
*Days 12 to 15: Small tweaks may be needed as normal bumps arise.
*Days 16 to 21: Sleep is more settled and you feel confident moving forward.
This level of support is what helps families achieve lasting change, not just short-term improvements.
-
If your child becomes unwell, your follow-up period will be put on hold until they’re better.
We’ll always prioritise your child’s health and wellbeing.
-
Yes, absolutely. It’s really helpful if you can both be there. This is a chance to reflect, ask questions, and get on the same page together.
Two sets of ears are always better, especially when you’re both tired.
-
Additional follow-up support can be added to your existing package if you feel you need it.
I’m always happy to discuss what would be most helpful for your situation.
-
Most families start to notice positive changes within 3 to 4 days, with more significant progress by around 10 days.
I always check in around day two or three to make sure things are heading in the right direction and to adjust the plan if needed.
-
Yes. As part of your consultation, we’ll look at your child’s feeding patterns, whether breast, formula, solids, or a combination.
I have extensive experience supporting families with feeding challenges such as solids refusal, fussy eating, texture difficulties, food avoidance, and anxiety around mealtimes.
-
The short answer is from around 3 months. After the fourth trimester, my Home or Zoom consultations are a great level of support.
At this stage, I can guide you through things like the four-month sleep regression, awake windows, naps, managing night feeds, moving from swaddle to sleep sack, how to safely manage sleep once your baby learns to roll, and handling naps on the go.
You’ll also receive a free copy of my 3 to 9 month Essential Napping Guide. This stage comes with lots of change, and I’ll help you navigate it with calm, practical, and responsive support.
-
Yes, I do. I offer Zoom or WhatsApp video consultations.
If the times on my booking calendar don’t suit your time zone, just get in touch and we’ll find a time that works for both of us.

If you’ve already tried all the gadgets, tips, and online advice and you’re still exhausted, you’re not alone. Real change usually doesn’t come from another product or generic plan. It comes from having the right support.
Working with a sleep consultant means having someone who takes the time to understand why your child isn’t sleeping, not just what to try next.
I look at the whole picture, identify the root causes, and create a personalised plan that fits your child and your family.
Just as importantly, you’re not left to do this on your own. Ongoing follow-up support gives you someone to check in with, keep you accountable, listen when things feel wobbly, and encourage you as changes start to take hold.
With the right insight, a clear plan, and the right support, your chances of success are much higher. You’re not guessing your way through this. You’re being guided, supported, and empowered every step of the way.
-
Absolutely. I work with a wide range of families, including grandparents, single parents, and same-sex couples.
Sleep challenges are universal, and everyone deserves support.
